Something I want to get off my chest, hope it's not too sentimental.
He was an old man, in his eighties. I barely even knew him, he was an acquaintance of my parents. One way or another, he found out that I suffer from CFS (chronic fatigue syndrome, for those who don't know). He also knew that I loved to cycle, and how I couldn't do it very often because of the disorder. One day he phoned us, telling he had an electric bicycle he didn't use anymore. He wanted me to have it. My father asked what the price would be. 'We'll figure that out', he said. So we met him, and I made a little test drive. I loved it. When we talked to him, it became more and more clear that he didn't want to sell it, he wanted to give it to me. He even paid for the repairs. There were some tears in his eyes when he handed the bicycle to me.
Never have I fully realised how much this gift actually ment. Not just because an electric bicycle is very expensive, also because it gave me so many opportunities. Without it, I wouldn't have been able to be in nature and make photos as much as I do now. He died six months after I received this gift.
Sir, you are an amazing example of humanity, and I want to thank you very much.
my goodness thank you for sharing this story, it's so beautiful and moving... I call people like this gentleman "angels with hidden wings", a true inspiration
I've been looking at stuff with feels all day, so my feels meter has broken on a few of them. It's ok though
