This photo is beautifully composed. If you were trying to get across a sense of struggle and life-time pain, you have suceeded. The isolation of the horse has given an air of desperate lonliness, and the stark background adds to this heart-pulling effect. The snow of winter is a brilliant season to choose for the effect of the work you were going for, as winter brings the pain for most people, and the tough times.

The use of greyscale has been applied brilliantly, to give a sense that the agony of the picture is the only concentration, and that is what you wish for people to see.

This clearly reflects a creative mind and a person who can make a lot out of something that in lesser hands, would make a mess of. Brilliant work.
