Being a mist-fanatic myself this picture immediately caught my eye. It portrays a very nicely calm and serene atmosphere both because of the desaturated colour palette and the balanced composition. What might have improved this even more would have been to get the path a little more centered on the photo. Yet still, even like this, the path leading away from the viewer guides the beholder's glance easily to the background where the veil of mist and the trees let you wonder what they might hide. The soft light coming from above adds a nice touch to the picture, making the mist seem a little less oppressive and more dreamy. It grants the photo a magical feel. The motif itself however lacks a little bit of originality but the execution is good enough not to let this be too much of a bother. I will also subtract half a star on technique for a slight blurriness that doesn't seem to result through the mist. All in all this is a very well done piece of art though that invites you to linger and dream for a little while.
When i saw this, i immediately came up with a hundreds of different meanings this picture could have. I like the way you made the picture of two different roads, the one more modern and the other primitive. The light is especially well used in this picture, blurring the background and the treetops, which makes think i almost FEEL the light. The poles between the two roads create an image of a boundary between the two, separating the one from the other. The way you made the picture also makes the left forest seems to have a lot of trees close to each other, making it seem a little darker than the right forest, where you can see the light through the trees. The details in the front becoming vaguer in the back also makes the picture have more depth. The angle at which you made the picture makes the trees seem very tall, which i find a really good way to picture the scene.
All in all - I really like the picture and hope to see more soon. (I really like it but maybe my star rating is a little low, just to explain )
I am reminded of my friend before she died, as a little girl who skipped along paths like these, holding my hand. I was seven and she was three... great memories...
